This interactive course
consists of four modules, each of which focuses on a specific aspect of
managing a Common Interest Development (CID) in California.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Principles of
California Law – By exploring the numerous laws that define CIDs, you will be able to
define the rights and responsibilities as well as legal remedies as they relate
to boards, members and management.
- Financial Management – By practicing with balance sheets, revenue and
expense statements, variance reports and other financial records, you through acquire
an understanding of basic accounting principles, required financial
disclosures, assessment collection principles, and state reporting
requirements.
- Community Management - By examining the many facets of
working with independent contractors, risk management and property maintenance.
You will learn how to manage contract issues and environmental concerns related
to facilities maintenance and more.
- Meetings and Records – By engaging in a
discussion regarding the many meetings that can be conducted, you will learn how to prepare for, notice
and conduct a variety of CID meetings. You will also be introduced to appropriate
record retention policies.

This is an introductory course required of members pursuing their initial CCAM
certification.
